THE PERTH office of Minter Ellison has welcomed a new partner to its insurance and corporate risk team.

Michael Cornes joined Minters as a special counsel in 2002 and boasts over 20 years’ experience in the law. He specialises in insurance litigation liability matters, including professional indemnity, general liability, property, recovery claims and corporate risk advice.

Perth managing partner John Poulsen praised Cornes’ contribution since joining the firm.

“[Cornes] has been a key contributor to the insurance and corporate risk team since he joined in 2002 as a special counsel,” Poulsen said.

“He has earned the trust of our clients and people, and been instrumental in the retention and development of significant clients.”

Cornes is a regular speaker for professional organisations such as the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Law Society of Western Australia. He is also a former committee member of the Western Australian branch of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).
