Knad assault

A nine year-old boy in the US has been fined $19,000 for kicking a waiter in the testicles.

TheAtlanta Journal-Constitution reports the incident happened at a wedding reception the waiter was helping to set up at the boy’s home in 1999. After his parents left for the wedding, leaving the boy and his younger brother unsupervised, the unnamed waiter said he had to discipline the boys when they ran around “wildly”, the oldest threatening catering staff with a knife.

As he was complying with orders banishing the boys to the back of the house, the waiter alleged the accused retaliated with a kick hard enough for him to miss work and run up medical bills of more than $5,700.

Not funny

A Swiss man has been jailed for 27 months for holding up a Zurich hotel with a plastic James Bond gun.

The 29 year-old managed to rob the same hotel twice, escaping with about $26,000, according to the Neue Zuercher Zeitung.

His lawyer pleaded for a suspended sentence, insisting nobody was ever in danger as the gun was obviously a toy, the numerals ‘007’ printed in gold clearly recognisable on the side of the gun.

The third man

A South African man was identified as a third suspect after he went to court to support two friends charged with car-jacking.

The man tried to flee the court, but was chased and arrested by police. The Star reported he’d gone to support Marius Langa and Simon Chicongwe, who were on trial for car-jacking a businessman. There was also a fourth man involved according to police. The third man was brought before a magistrate and charged with robbery and all three are expected to reappear on 29 April.
