Rostron Carlyle Rojas Lawyers (RCR Lawyers), which has offices in Brisbane and Sydney, has added two partners – one from KLM Solicitors and one from Brisbane-based boutique A W Bale & Son Solicitors.

New partners Jackson Freeman and Jim Coburn, both based in Brisbane, join RCR Lawyers as part of a strategic move to grow the firm’s criminal law practice, which provides services around serious crime, summary crime, domestic violence matters, traffic matters and confiscations proceedings.

Freeman joined RCR Lawyers as a criminal law partner in March this year and was most recently an associate at KLM Solicitors. Originally from New Zealand, he brings more than eight years of legal experience to the firm, including experience working at firms in New Zealand.

“My goal is to grow our practice by ensuring clients receive clear, strategic advice without the unnecessary legal jargon,” he said.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to build a practice that’s not only legally strong but also accessible and supportive.”

Coburn brings three decades of expertise to the firm and joins from A W Bale & Son Solicitors, a boutique firm in Brisbane. He is an Accredited Criminal Law Specialist with the Queensland Law Society and brings a team-focused leadership style to the team, according to the firm.

“Everyone deserves a fair go, and I’m passionate about delivering a high standard of defence for all clients, no matter how complex their case,” he said.

“I’m thrilled to join Jackson and the exceptional RCR team as we aim to cement the firm’s position as a leader in criminal law across the state.”

In the same practice group, RCR Lawyers has also appointed Fraser Petracci (formerly of KLM Solicitors) and Matthew Willshire (formerly of Ly Lawyers) as criminal law clerks.

RCR Lawyers founding partner Hamish Carlyle welcomed the appointments.

"Jackson and Jim represent the very best in criminal law. Their experience, dedication, and shared vision for our clients perfectly align with RCR’s values,” he said.

“We’re confident they will not only enhance our existing criminal practice but also drive new growth and opportunity in this space.”
