Following the recent addition of a head of automotive and commercial partner earlier this year, Baybridge Lawyers has added another commercial (automotive) partner.

Eric Louca joins the firm after spending a year as the general manager of legal for Hyundai and was also previously general counsel at Audi, in addition to spending time in private practice roles.

Louca has advised on dealer network strategies and franchise agreements and has deep automotive sector expertise. In addition to his strong franchising and general commercial expertise, his work focuses on Australian Consumer Law compliance, from consumer claims handling to advertising, as well as strategic guidance on pricing conduct and competition law.

“Baybridge stands out as a firm for its clarity of purpose and deep connection with clients. The firm’s core practice areas of franchising, consumer law, and intellectual property have direct and strong synergies with the automotive industry, arming it perfectly to service both established and emerging automotive brands,” he said.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a team that’s bold, forward-thinking, and committed to delivering positive commercial outcomes.”

Louca will work with head of automotive law Genevieve Hehir, who joined the firm in April this year, bringing its partnership to 85 per cent female. Earlier this month, Baybridge also added a senior associate to its commercial team.

The new appointment, effective from this month, further solidifies the firm’s position in the automotive space, according to managing director and CEO Marwan Kojok.

“Eric has sat in boardrooms and war rooms. He knows how to blend legal insight with business imperatives, and that’s exactly the kind of thinking our clients value most,” he said.

“He doesn’t just understand the law; he understands the market.”
