Melbourne-based firm Madgwicks Lawyers has promoted three senior lawyers, as well as added a new principal, who joins from Velocity Legal.
Madgwicks – a full-service firm in Melbourne with a 50-year history – has added a new principal, as well as promoted two special counsel and one associate.
New principal lawyer Brad Marland joins the firm’s property practice after working as a director of Velocity Legal’s property practice. He has previously held partner roles at BigLaw firms Hall & Wilcox and Gadens.
“I’m excited to be joining Madgwicks at a time of strategic growth,” he said.
“The firm’s entrepreneurial mindset and strong client-centric culture resonate with my own values. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the property practice and expanding my networks here in Melbourne.”
Marland’s deep expertise in commercial and residential property matters, along with a strong reputation for client service and pragmatic advice, makes him a significant addition to the team, according to principal Laurance Davis.
“Brad’s appointment is a key part of our ongoing investment in high-calibre talent and supports the continued growth of our property practice,” he said.
“His experience, relationships and leadership will not only add depth to our property practice but also support our broader vision, growth and influence.”
In addition to the new principal, Marie-Anne Davies (property) and Lisa McNicholas (insolvency and commercial litigation) have been promoted to special counsel, while Madelaine Scheiner (property) has been elevated to associate.
Speaking about the promotions, principal Angelo Conti said the elevations “not only recognise the individual achievements of Marie-Anne, Lisa and Madelaine but also highlight the depth of talent” across Madgwicks.
“At Madgwicks, we are committed to supporting the professional development of our people and celebrating those who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their practice,” he said.
