UK-based firm Rouse Group has strengthened its presence in the Australian market by forming a strategic partnership with 105-year-old intellectual property firm Wrays.
The Rouse Group (Rouse) has expanded its international footprint by entering the Australian legal market through a strategic alliance with The Wrays Group (Wrays), one of the region’s largest and oldest independent intellectual property firms.
The agreement between the two intellectual property services firms was finalised in August 2025, with Rouse stating that the move supports its strategic driver of “greater integration and alignment of IP services globally”.
As part of the partnership, Rouse confirmed that Wrays will maintain its independent brand while integrating and operating as part of the Rouse Group.
With offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide, Wrays gives Rouse a strong presence across Australia’s major hubs, while also providing direct access into the New Zealand market.
In a statement, the UK-based firm explained how the deal offers significant advantages for both sides, giving Wrays’ clients access to Rouse’s “international coverage and industry-leading talent”, while Rouse’s clients benefit from Wrays’ “strong patent practice and expertise” across multiple sectors.
Luke Minford, CEO at Rouse, expressed how this partnership “isn’t just another deal; it’s a strategic leap that will shake up the IP landscape in Asia-Pacific”.
“Australia is a critical piece in the building of a regional IP powerhouse, and so combining the depth of capability that Rouse has in Asia with the quality of talent and expertise Wrays has in Australia creates a unique offering that will disrupt the status quo,” Minford said.
“I’m excited to see how we can leverage this partnership to deliver more value to our clients and drive innovation across the region.”
Gary Cox, executive chairman and principal at Wrays, explained how partnering with Rouse will help the IP firm expand its international presence and elevate its operations onto the global stage.
“Wrays has always been driven by a vision to lead in the Australian IP market. We believe joining Rouse will be the catalyst that propels us onto the global stage, and we’re excited to deliver additional value to our clients thanks to Rouse’s international network and resources,” Cox said.
Paula Adamson, CEO at Wrays, added: “This isn’t just about expansion; it’s about offering our clients unparalleled access to expertise, technology and markets. This is a golden opportunity to support our clients who are looking to expand into international markets and protect their intangible assets globally.”
