Earlier this year, Lawyers Weekly spoke with Cowell Clarke about how the firm intends to expand its operations to a national level within the next few years and how its director appointments supported this growth plan.

Now, the firm has named another new director, this time for its dispute resolution and construction teams.

Amanda Brady (pictured) has been promoted to director in the firm’s dispute resolution and construction practice and will take up her new role in November.

The promotion, the firm said in a statement, “recognises her significant contribution to the firm since joining as an associate in 2014, and her growing reputation in the market for managing building and construction disputes and general commercial disputes, including property-related issues, shareholder or office bearer disputes and general contractual disputes”.

Speaking about the promotion, Cowell Clarke chief executive Rob Comazzetto said: “Amanda is a rare talent, and her promotion to director recognises her ongoing contribution to the firm and the industry.”

“She is an excellent lawyer dedicated to exceptional client service, and in addition, she plays an important role championing women in the construction industry through her role as president of the SA chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.”

“As a firm, we don’t restrict ourselves with once yearly opportunities for promotion, we promote when there’s a natural progression and the time is right. Amanda’s promotion is a testament to this approach. Our focus has always been on providing the necessary support for associate directors on their path to becoming a director and helping them build a sustainable practice.”

The firm’s Sydney office has grown to 65 employees in three years, taking the firm to nearly 200 employees (its other office is in Adelaide).

In the past six months, the firm has added 30 new team members, including 12 legal roles (10 of which have been associate or above), two new directors, an associate director, and five senior associates.
