Two prominent forces in Queensland’s criminal law sector have united in a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening their crime practice and cementing their position in the state’s legal market.
Creevey Horrell Lawyers has partnered with Brisbane-based firm McGinness & Associates in a strategic move to expand its crime and misconduct division and broaden its service offering across Queensland.
Under the arrangement, McGinness & Associates will be absorbed into Creevey Horrell Lawyers, operating going forward under the Creevey Horrell name.
The move brings Andrew McGinness, founder of McGinness & Associates – described by Creevey Horrell Lawyers as “one of Queensland’s most highly regarded criminal lawyers” – into the firm, alongside his team of two criminal defence solicitors.
With more than 40 years of experience in criminal and quasi-criminal defence, McGinness will join Creevey Horrell as a consultant.
Dan Creevey, principal of Creevey Horrell, expressed his delight to welcome McGinness and his team to the firm, praising his extensive experience and strong standing within the legal profession.
“We are delighted that Andrew and his team are joining Creevey Horrell Lawyers in Brisbane,” Creevey said.
“Andrew has extensive experience representing clients charged with everything from traffic matters to murder. He is well respected in the legal fraternity, and we look forward to gaining his wealth of knowledge.”
Creevey explained how this expansion reflects its commitment to providing comprehensive support across an array of criminal justice matters.
“At Creevey Horrell, we are able to help clients across every aspect of criminal and regulatory prosecutions, including matters [that] are still at an investigatory stage, and we have an enviable track record of achieving successful results,” Creevey said.
“Our crime and misconduct team deals with matters such as drug and traffic offences, domestic violence and protection orders, weapons licensing issues, and workplace health and safety prosecutions, as well as high-profile criminal matters.”
This news follows the firm hiring a highly regarded special counsel and a wills and estates family lawyer in the middle of October and appointing an agricultural resources industry specialist to its team as a solicitor at the end of July.
