Armstrong Legal will absorb JSA NSW, a criminal law practice headed up by a highly skilled courtroom advocate.
From 1 April, criminal defence practice JSA NSW and its director, Andrew Tiedt, will be transitioned to Armstrong Legal.
Armstrong Legal’s national practice director of criminal law, Angela Cooney, said she was “incredibly excited” to welcome Tiedt.
“Andrew is an exemplary criminal law advocate and will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team,” Cooney said.
Tiedt is known to be a skilled courtroom advocate, often appearing in jury trials for his clients without counsel.
Having spent his entire career in criminal law, Tiedt has appeared for persons charged with sexual offending, fraud, serious driving offences, drug supply and possession, violence and internet-based offences.
Tiedt has also appeared in civil proceedings connected to criminal allegations, including in the ICAC, AAT, NCAT and the NSW and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.
Tiedt said he was keen to bring some of JSA’s values over to Armstrong Legal, including honesty, integrity and ethical practice.
“I have always believed in working cooperatively within a team and bring with me a passion for rigorous advocacy, along with clear, honest communication and commitment to positive client outcomes.
“Armstrong Legal have put together the finest criminal law team in NSW. I am thrilled to become part of that team, and I am looking forward to working with them,” Tiedt said.
