Andrzej Meysner has been appointed as a magistrate of the Magistrates Court of Western Australia, following eight years of service as a registrar at the Family Court of Western Australia.
His appointment fills a vacancy created following the retirement of one part-time magistrate and another magistrate’s move to part-time duties.
Admitted to practice in 2009, Meysner has spent the majority of his legal career working in the field of family law.
During his time as a registrar, he facilitated conciliation and pre-trial conferences, presided over general court lists and readiness hearings, and managed the return of subpoenas.
He also spent two years as an appeals registrar for both the Family Court of Western Australia and the Family Court of Australia, preparing and scheduling appeals for the Full Court and collaborating with registrars and judges from other jurisdictions.
Before joining the court as a registrar, Meysner spent seven years in private practice as a senior solicitor at a law firm specialising primarily in family law.
He will take up his new role as a magistrate of the court on 9 March 2026.
West Australian Attorney-General Tony Buti expressed how Meysner’s 17 years of experience and deep family law expertise would make him a strong addition to the Family Court of Western Australia, helping the court manage its heavy workload effectively.
“I congratulate Andrzej Meysner on his appointment as a magistrate to preside in the Family Court of Western Australia,” A-G Buti said.
“He will be a welcome addition to the judiciary after serving for 17 years as a registrar of the Family Court and in private practice.
“Mr Meysner’s strong background in family law will help the court continue to effectively manage a significant workload.”
