Nicholas Turner has left DLA Piper’s global employment group, where he served as head of employment in Australia, to join Seyfarth as partner.

Prior to DLA Piper, Turner was head of employment (London) at Sidley Austin and head of employment (Asia) at Linklaters.

Darren Perry, chair of Seyfarth’s international employment law management department and managing partner of the Sydney and Melbourne offices, said Turner has brought “significant Australian and international” labour and employment experience to the team.

“Nicholas, with his extensive background, will fulfil a valuable role with his ability to connect our Australia practice with the cross-border work done by our partners in the United States, London and Hong Kong,” Perry said.

Turner has advised clients on the full spectrum of employment and workplace issues, including senior executive matters, remuneration and incentive structures, and complex disputes.

He also offers widespread experience in workplace change, enterprise bargaining and industrial strategy, having guided organisations through complex and often high-pressure environments.

Daniel Waldman, vice chair of Seyfarth’s international employment department, said Turner was a “strong addition” to the team.

“It is so valuable to have such an experienced lawyer in Sydney, with his being UK-qualified and having spent meaningful time in Hong Kong, who can also operate cross-border and create stronger connections back to our other offices,” Waldman added.

Turner said Seyfarth presented a “compelling opportunity” to him as both a lawyer and “business generator”.

“I am truly energised and excited by the prospect of focusing on client work with the outstanding team of lawyers at Seyfarth, both in Australia and internationally,” Turner said.

“Seyfarth’s strong and stable brand platform will enable me to advance my practice to the next level.”
