A retired American judge has been admonished for ordering a lawyer, who settled a class action lawsuit, to accept payment of his $US125,000 ($141,000) fee in $US10 women's apparel coupons, reports The Washington Post.
As part of the settlement, the company issued $US10 coupons to the plaintiffs. The judge evidently thought it sufficient for the lawyer to accept his fees with the same compensation.
The Commission of Judicial Performance, which disciplines state judges, slammed the judge - who retired shortly after making the order - for his "abusive and biased" behaviour.
