A retired American judge has been admonished for ordering a lawyer, who settled a class action lawsuit, to accept payment of his $US125,000 ($141,000) fee in $US10 women's apparel coupons, reports The Washington Post.
The lawsuit centred on accusations that a women's apparel company violated customers' privacy during credit card transactions.
As part of the settlement, the company issued $US10 coupons to the plaintiffs. The judge evidently thought it sufficient for the lawyer to accept his fees with the same compensation.
