Broken client noses

Canadian lawyer Julia Ranieri found herself in a courtroom for all the wrong reasons after losing her cool and punching her own client in the face. According to star.com, the right hook broke the client's nose, then sent her hurtling into a conveniently located flowerbed - where she was later rescued by paramedics. According to the Law Society of Upper Canada, this type of behaviour is becoming increasingly common in the region. Perhaps those northern Canadians aren't getting enough vitamin D.

Hot shot Texan defence lawyer Adam "Bulletproof" Reposa was sentenced to 90 days in gaol after apparently conveying to judge Paul Davis his disapproval at the conclusion of a four day long trial, reports The Texan Lawyer. Reposa's opinion may well have been tolerated had he not conveyed it by simulating masturbation in front of Davis, as well as a bemused client. Davis held Resposa in contempt of court, saying his obscene gestures disrupted the "peace, dignity and honour of the court."

Two American personal injury lawyers showed their true colours by inciting a courtroom brawl that involved verbal abuse, scrotum-twisting, neck injuries and handcuffs, reports The American Courthouse. Onlookers had to break up the pair - who were rolling around on the courtroom floor - and the instigator was fined and thrown in the nick overnight to cool down. Judge Kern Reese rushed from his chambers to see what all the fuss was about and swiftly gave the brawlers a piece of his mind: "The one thing I am not going to tolerate is lawyers being unprofessional," he said. "It's bad enough that money-grubbing lawyers have turned our courtrooms into casinos...but a cage fight?"
