Remember the gorgeous little seeing-eye fluffy puppy adopted by Brisbane firm Trilby Misso?

Well, after much debate and discussion, the little fella has been given his very own name by the firm's staff.

The Golden Retriever Labrador cross puppy, which will be trained to be the 'eyes' of a visually impaired person, has now been aptly named Ty - short for Tybalt - which is Latin for "He who sees".

Trilby Misso staff were asked to come up with a short-list of names for the nine-week-old canine, which will soon be trained under Vision Australia's Seeing Eye Dog program.

Trilby Misso CEO Graeme McFadyen said more than 70 names were suggested with the short-list including Charlie, Harvey, Ty, Trilby, Titan and Buddy.

While the final decision as to the dog's name rests with Vision Australia, staff members have spoken and are hopeful Ty will stick.

The puppy will be officially named at a ceremony at Trilby Misso's Brisbane office on 19 August.

The Victorian-born pooch will soon commence an intensive training program with an official carer in Brisbane before he is eventually placed with a visually impaired person.

"We are his sponsors and we'll continue to follow his progress over the years and we hope our staff will feel that he is their puppy," said McFadyen.

It must be said that Folklaw has a touch of puppy-envy. The office shredder isn't quite as cute, doesn't chase balls and isn't nearly as soft.

Give it a toilet roll to play with, however, and the effect is somewhat the same.
