Just as former Socceroos captain Craig Moore was arrested in Dubai for an "alcohol-related charge", a Freshfields trainee lawyer has also found himself in similar circumstances after spending his weekend in a Dubai jail.

According to rollonfriday.com, the male trainee was a new arrival in Dubai where it is illegal to drink alcohol on the street or in a public place.

In what would have seemed to be a normal night out for any young lawyer, the trainee attended a private party with other expats on a Friday night.

However, according to rollonfriday.com, things went wrong when the party got a little too wild and he was asked to leave.

The trainee did as told and hopped into a taxi back to his apartment only to discover he had lost his keys and wallet. Consequently, he was thrown out of the taxi when the driver discovered his passenger couldn't pay up, leaving the trainee with little choice but to go back to the party.

But the young lawyer never made it that far. Instead, he was picked up by the Dubai police and taken to jail where he was kept until Sunday.

A spokesperson for Freshfields told rollonfriday.com that the firm was "helping the trainee while he cooperates with the authorities' enquiries and are providing the support he needs".

Probably not quite the start the trainee was looking for in his overseas adventure.
