An American district attorney has found himself at the centre of a police investigation after sending suggestive texts to the ex-girlfriend of a man he was prosecuting.

The Irish Independent reports that the 50 year-old lawyer sent sexually explicit texts to the 26 year-old woman, with one such digital sonnet stating: "Are you the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA?" And; "I would not expect you to be the other woman. I would want you to be so hot and treat me so well that you'd be THE woman! RU that good?"

The woman filed a complaint with police in Wisconsin about the texts, telling authorities that she felt pressured to have a relationship with the lothario lawyer or risk having the charges against her ex-boyfriend dropped.

Her ex-boyfriend was being prosecuted on domestic abuse charges.

While cricket is not big in the US, we wonder if the DA has ever heard of Shane Warne?
