Original radio shock jock Derryn Hinch seems to be relying on an iconic element of an Australian film classic to get him through his latest encounter with the law.

As reported in The Australian, Hinch is currently before the High Court arguing that he was "morally entitled" to reveal the names of two sex offenders on his website, despite the fact their names were subject to a Victorian County Court suppression order, and that the suppression orders were constitutionally invalid.

Hinch, who spent a short time in jail in 1987 for outing a pedophile priest, accepted the fact that he might be facing five years in jail, with the additional prospect of a $60,000 fine.

Despite this, Hinch is standing by his decision, saying he is not at all sorry for his actions.

"I guess with my record it would not look good," he told the press outside the High Court in Canberra this morning (2 November).

"It is not just about me, it is not just about the media, it is a very big issue ... In the state of Victoria they are throwing these suppression orders out like confetti."

But it seems that Hinch has faith that all will be well. He has, after all, recently watched the iconic Australian film The Castle, which features a High Court case run by a family of Aussie battlers, the Kerrigans, with whom Hinch very much likes to identify.

And according to Hinch, the famous "vibe", which was the clinching argument which won the case for the Kerrigans ("It's the vibe of the thing, your Honour"), will get him through.

"Let's hope the vibe is as good as it was in The Castle," said Hinch.

While Folklaw is resisting the temptation to "tell him he's dreamin'", at least Derryn knows that if the vibe fails him, he'll be going straight to the pool room...
