SPARKE Helmore has persuaded a hardened public servant back to private practice with the appointment of new special counsel Michael Najem.
The former RTA deputy general counsel Najem has taken a role at the firm’s environment and planning practice after a long stretch in various government roles and a stint at Shad Partners.
Najem’s dalliance with government bodies included a turn with the Olympic Roads and Transport Authority and various in-house legal roles, including at the Department of Water Resources, NSW State Crown Solicitor's office and the Department of Planning.
“[Najem] brings a unique blend of experience in dealing with both the public and private sectors,” said Daryl Gray, partner and head of Sparke’s environment and planning practice.
