Khim Nah and Rodney McCallum have joined the firms property division, headed by Catherine Hallgath and Mary Digigli, both accredited specialists in property law by the Law Society of NSW.
Nah joins the practice from New Zealand firm Simpson Grierson and will join partner Hallgath’s team within the property division, which has recently completed work on the acquisition of a hotel, shopping centre (more than 100 leases) and carpark in Brisbane CBD circa $160 million, among other deals.
Fellow new associate, McCallum, joins from HWL Ebsworth and will join Digigli’s team. McCallum has practice in the property law area for the past 15 years and has in that time acted for leading property developers in broadacre acquisitions and subdivisions, in addition to other specialist activities.
“I have worked with Mary and her team before, so I knew that I would be getting enjoyable work and a degree of autonomy with personal growth opportunities,” said McCallum.
The appointments are part of a overall growth strategy at the firm said CEO Bronwyn Potts.
“We are focused on building on our expertise in areas where we have a solid reputation in the market. Our aim is to be a viable alternative to the top tier firms,” managing partner at Swaab, Fred Swaab, added.
Other areas that Swaab are focusing on for growth at the partner level include employment, corporate and intellectual property information technology.
The firm’s property division has also acted on recent deals such as the disposal of a Sydney CBD mixed use building, circa $50 million, disposal of a portfolio of commercial properties across NSW, Victoria and Queensland, circa $90 million, disposal of a retail clothing chain of 30 stores Australia wide and the acquisition of a prominent retail clothing label including 30 stores Australia wide.
