LAW firm Maddocks has appointed a former Clayton Utz and Minter Ellison partner to its employment practice in Sydney.

Bruce Heddle joins the smaller firm as a employment, safety and people partner.

Heddle has 20 years’ experience in managing large disputes and has a background in occupational health and safety and discrimination law.

During his time as a partner at both Clayton Utz, and before that Minter Ellison, Heddle advised large company clients on senior executive appointments and terminations.

Maddocks employment, safety and people national practice group head, Ross Jackson, said that despite the economic downturn, the firm has experienced strong growth in both Melbourne and Sydney, across all employment, discrimination and safety related areas.

The advent of the Fair Work Act 2009, coupled with the firm’s ongoing work acting for the Country Fire Authority in the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission, has given the firm’s lawyers a string of deals.
