Law firm Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has recruited Nigel Watson from TressCox Lawyers.

The new hire is the firm's third lateral hire at partner level in three months. As well, six partners joined the firm when it merged with Monahan + Rowell in June this year.

Watson brings with him an insolvency and reconstruction practice from his former firm.

He was chairman of the Hunt & Hunt Legal Group before he joined TressCox.

Prior to that he was a partner with Norton Rose predecessor firms for more than 20 years. He was chairman of the insolvency and reconstruction committee of the Law Council of Australia. He is also a member of the Law Institute of Victoria commercial litigation law specialisation advisory committee.

Watson has known Patrick Monahan and the CBP Melbourne team for many years, his new firm said in a statement.

"The new CBP, incorporating Monahan & Rowell, is a great firm with leading expertise and clearly articulated growth plans that align with my skillset and client base,” said Watson.
