DLA Piper has moved one of its Melbourne corporate lawyers to Perth in a bid to keep up with the resources boom there.

The firm said the strategic transfer of Andrew Crean, who is being promoted from senior associate to special counsel, is being transferred as Western Australia continues to drive the Australian economy amid the resources boom.

Formerly based in DLA Piper's Melbourne office, Crean has corporate transaction experience in both public and private treaty mergers and acquisitions, along with equity capital markets, contracts and corporate governance expertise.

As part of his new role in Perth, Crean will work with the Perth finance and projects team, and will provide corporate expertise in connection with mining and other major projects.

Joint Asia Pacific Head of DLA Piper's Corporate practice, David Morris, said "The move reflects our aim to provide clients with seamless support across Australia and around the globe. An enhanced corporate capability in Perth is an important part of that full-service offering."
