AMPLA is a not-for-profit national association that was established in 1976 to advance the knowledge of law relating to energy and resources.
Recognised as a leading energy and resources lawyer, Corletto has served on the national board of AMPLA for eight years.
He joined South Australian commercial law firm Kelly & Co as a partner in 2000 and has been group company secretary/corporate counsel of the Normandy Mining Group.
“The resources sector in Australia is undergoing enormous change, representing unique challenges for the legal profession,” said Corletto.
“Lawyers in this sector face an evolving legal, commercial and political landscape both on a state and national basis.
“In addition, the increased global activities of corporations make it even more important for advisers to broaden their knowledge of the law governing international jurisdictions.
“Education and continuous professional development is therefore crucial. I look forward to my term as president and working closely with the national AMPLA Board."
Corletto’s one-year term as president will coincide with Adelaide hosting the 2013 AMPLA annual conference.
He replaces Michael MacGinley, who has completed his one-year term as president.
