MARCUS Einfeld, the embattled former Federal Court judge, wants to remove himself from the New South Wales Bar Association, the NSW Supreme Court has heard.
Einfeld's lawyer Robert Tassell has told the Supreme Court his client says he is not fit to practice law and will seek an application to disbar himself, ABC News reports.
The New South Wales Bar Association is bound to agree with the judge, having sought to strike him off after he was jailed for at least two years for perjury and perverting the course of justice in lying to avoid a speeding fine in 2006.
Einfeld's lawyer told the court there were still disputed facts pertaining to matters Einfeld had not pleaded on and they needed to be resolved before he could be disbarred.
Tassell said it had been difficult to meet with his client, having only seen him last Saturday since he has been in custody. The hearing has been adjourned until June.
