MELBOURNE barristers are fuming over a revolting smell wafting through the corridors of Douglas Menzies Chambers.

The smell, not unlike sewage according to one visitor's account, is said to waft randomly through the building. Some suspect the source may be the air conditioners, the Australian Financial Review reports today.

In an amusing report about odours coming from the subterranean pipes within the prestigious Chambers, the AFR says workers have apparently abseiled the lift well of the chambers, plugging holes to no avail.

The smell is said to be so bad, it has forced a few barristers within to consider moving to sweeter surrounds.
