UNSW appoints new GC

The former general counsel of Screen Australia has been appointed the general counsel of UNSW.

Elizabeth Grinston (pictured) has been the general counsel at Screen Australia since 2009, prior to that she was a special counsel at Gilbert + Tobin.

 
 

She was also previously a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills and was also a decision maker in various specialist state and federal tribunals.

She has also held a number of non-executive director positions on boards in the energy and insurance sectors.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney.

As general counsel at UNSW, Grinston will lead the provision of high-level, expert legal services for the university. The position is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the Legal Office, Legal Office (Research), Compliance Framework and Governance Office.

Grinston’s appointment takes effect on 8 October.
