Whiting has extensive experience in the competition, corporate and regulatory areas. She also has experience in the corporate space, having been a director for much of her professional career.
She also acted on the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission, as co-leader of the Corrs team acting as the solicitors instructing counsel.
Commenting on the appointment, G+T’s managing partner Danny Gilbert said: “I am delighted to welcome a lawyer of Janet’s calibre and experience to our firm. Her appointment reflects our success to date in establishing a first-tier presence in Melbourne. Janet will add additional capacity to our leading litigation practices in Sydney and Perth and to our national litigation offering more generally.”
Whiting’s appointment follows the recent appointments of Tony Holland and Damian McNair, who joined from DLA Piper.
High-profile M&A partner Craig Semple, whose defection from King & Wood Mallesons to G+T was announced in June, will also take up his new role with the firm on 1 January.
In April, Andrew Pitney, the Melbourne head of Corrs, left the firm to join HWL Ebsworth.
