King & Wood Mallesons has suffered another partner defection – this time energy & resources partner Daniel Kirk, who has joined Lavan Legal’s corporate services practice in Perth.

Kirk (pictured) was a partner at KWM for three years. He specialises in M&A and has brokered deals across the energy & resources, industrial, property and financial services sectors.

KWM is also set to lose financial services partner Michelle Levy and three other lawyers to Allens in March or April, Lawyers Weekly exclusively revealed last week.
Lavan has also announced the appointment of former Lander & Rogers senior associate Gavin Rakoczy to the firm’s reconstruction, recovery and insolvency practice.
Last month, Lavan recruited litigation partner James Steedman of Karp Steedman Ross-Adjie, a boutique which closed its doors in December.
The firm also added two new partners to its banking & finance team in December, one a lateral hire and the other an internal promotion.
Lavan has 20 partners and 180 staff.
