Claire Victory (pictured right) received the award and a $2000 prize at the Burgess Paluch Young Lawyers Ball hosted by The Law Society of SA on Friday (10 April).

The victorious solicitor had been nominated by her boss and partner at Duddy Shopov Lawyers, William Duddy, who commended Victory on both her professional and extra-curricular achievements.

“I nominated Claire because she readily deserves to be congratulated for the work she does for both the profession and the community, without seeking any accolade or recognition,” he said.

“Claire is unassuming, a quiet achiever, and a credit to our profession and most of all herself.”

Victory practises in the areas of personal injury, insurance, workplace safety and employment law. She also recently completed a Vocational Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution and a Graduate Certificate in Loss, Grief and Trauma Counselling.

This additional study was fuelled as much by her willingness to help others in the community as it was to assist her clients, according to Duddy.

Outside of work, Victory is the National Vice-President of The St Vincent de Paul Society and co-chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of The Law Society of SA. She also mentors young law students and has been a mock trial coach for students of St Mary’s and Cabra College.

“I am fortunate that the partners of my firm are supportive of the work I do with Vinnies and the Law Society; they encourage my community involvement and give me time and encouragement to remain engaged in the organisations and causes about which I am passionate,” said Victory.

“This helps me to maintain a balanced outlook on work and life and, ultimately, helps me to remain positive about motivated in the workplace.”
