Chapman (pictured) has been appointed senior banking partner at Gadens, after spending almost 13 years at Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a partner.

Chapman said Gadens suited him due to the number of major and regional banking panels the firm was on.

He said the first two secretaries he previously worked with are still at the firm.

“Paul Spiro, the managing partner, I’ve known for 24 years and count as a friend and a lot of my compatriots from the 90s are now partners,” Chapman said.

Chapman started his career at Gadens as an articled clerk in 1990 before he was admitted in 1992. In 1994 he joined McKenna and Co in London, which later merged with Cameron Markby Hewitt to become Cameron McKenna.

He came back to Australia in 1998 and joined Allens in Sydney, before going to Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Brisbane in 2000.

In 2002 he joined Deacons Australia, which merged with Norton Rose in 2009. Norton Rose merged with US firm Fulbright & Jaworski to become Norton Rose Fulbright in 2013.
