NSW Attorney-General Gabrielle Upton announced that Mr Robson will replace retired Justice Malcolm Craig as a judge of the state’s Land and Environment Court last week.

"Justice Craig has served with distinction on the bench of the Land and Environment Court over the past six years and I wish him the best for the next chapter of his life," Ms Upton said.

Barrister John Robson was called to the bar in 1989 and appointed senior counsel in 2004. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and has practised extensively in the areas of environment and planning law, commercial, equity and administrative law.

"During a legal career that has spanned more than 30 years, Mr Robson has earned the respect of the legal community," Ms Upton said.

"I congratulate Mr Robson on this appointment and look forward to the contribution he will make to the Land and Environment Court of NSW."

Mr Robson will be sworn in as a judge on 5 July.
