South Australia nabs new magistrate
Acting Attorney-General Jack Snelling has announced that an experienced South Australian lawyer has been appointed as magistrate.

Mr Snelling has revealed Kylie Schulz has been appointed as the new magistrate, effective 18 September. Her new role sees Ms Schulz fill the vacancy created by the retirement of magistrate Melanie Little, according to a statement.
Ms Schulz was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1992, the High Court of Australia in ‘93, and the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2000.
She holds experience working in private practice, in addition to roles in the Crown Solicitor’s Office in the Civil Litigation Section and as an outposted lawyer in the Department of Human Services.
According to the statement, Ms Schulz’s most recent work has “predominately involved appearing in the Child Protection jurisdiction of the Youth Court, as well as leading a team of solicitors in supporting the government’s response to the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission”.
“I would like to congratulate Kylie Schulz on her appointment,” said acting Attorney-General Jack Snelling.
“Ms Schulz’s experience as a senior litigator within the Crown Solicitor’s Office has spanned many disciplines and included a diverse range of challenges, which I believe will prepare her well for her new role.
“I would also like to thank magistrate Little for her contribution to both the Youth Court and Magistrates Court over many years, and wish her every success as she begins the next phase of her life.”
