Federal Circuit Court of Australia to see new judge
A new judge has been appointed to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, effective 30 January.

Karl Blake has been named as the new judge and will commence his new role in the Melbourne Registry.

According to a statement supplied by Attorney-General Christian Porter MP, Mr Blake graduated with a bachelor of laws with honours and a bachelor of commerce from the University of Melbourne in 1997, and was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1998.
“Mr Blake began his career as a lawyer at Blake Dawson Waldron in 1998 specialising in industrial relations and employment law. He became a Senior Associate in 2001 before becoming team leader and later practice group head with Maddocks,” the A-G said.
“In 2007, Mr Blake became a Partner at Maddocks until 2015 when he was appointed partner at MinterEllison, where he has continued to be recognised as a leading practitioner in industrial relations and employment law.
“On behalf of the government, I congratulate Mr Blake on his appointment and thank him for his willingness to serve the people of Australia as a judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.”
