According to a statement from the commission, the focus of the hearings will centre around Victoria Police’s dealings with Nicola Gobbo between 1993 and 2000.
“A number of current and former members of Victoria Police will give evidence,” it said.
Lawyers Weekly will cover the public hearings from Wednesday to Friday via a live-blog, which will begin at 10am and run until 1pm, break for one hour, and then pick up from 2pm until an approximate closing time of 4pm each day.
The aim of the live-blog is to give readers a real-time run down on the latest coming out of the public hearings.
The public hearings follow the revelation that Nicola Gobbo is the Melbourne barrister that up until 1 March was referred to as ‘EF’ or ‘Lawyer X’, due to suppression orders.
Following the suppression orders being lifted and the identity of Ms Gobbo being confirmed, the Victorian Bar issued a statement saying that the royal commission was now better placed to appreciate the full extent of her conduct.
