The new KCs in the Sunshine State are Holly Blattman, Daniel Butler, David Chesterman, Sarah Farnden, Donald Gardiner, Edward Goodwin, David Jones, David Keane, Gerard Mullins, Katarina Prskalo, Timothy Ryan, Angus Scott, Mark Steele and Craig Wilkins.
The appointments were made, Mr O’Brien detailed, on the recommendation of the Honourable Helen Bowskill, Chief Justice of Queensland.
“On behalf of the association, I congratulate our new silks on their appointment,” she wrote to members.
The appointments follow the naming of 23 new senior counsel in Victoria and two new SCs in the ACT, both in early November, and the naming of 20 new SCs in NSW in early October.
As reported first by Lawyers Weekly following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, persons appointed as Queen’s counsel would automatically become King’s counsel. The aforementioned appointments in Queensland thus have the designation KC.
