The government whittled down 67 candidates considered for appointment, recommended by a panel comprising Chief Federal Magistrate John Pascoe, former Family Court judge Susan Morgan, and a senior official of the Attorney-General’s Department.

Joseph Harman, Leanne Turner, and Commissioner Dominica Whelan were this week appointed Federal Magistrates.

Harman and Turner bring expertise in family law to the Court, including in family dispute resolution and work in the legal aid sector.

Whelan comes across from her most recent role as a Commissioner of Fair Work Australia.

Harman will be appointed to the Parramatta Registry, Turner to the Darwin Registry and Whelan to the Melbourne Registry.
