Norton Rose Australia has made two banking and finance hires in Sydney, including a former Freehills counsel.

Chris Redden joins Norton Rose Australia as a partner in the banking and finance team in Sydney. The baking partner has moved from Norton Rose’s Hong Kong office.

The firm says his appointment adds to its project finance offering in the mining and oil and gas sectors.

Redden’s practice focuses on project, acquisition, corporate and structured trade finance. The new Sydney man also specialises in reserve based lending and has a broad range of structured finance experience.

Norton Rose Australia managing partner, Wayne Spanner said project finance practice and oil and gas finance are key sectors driving global growth, and that the firm will continue to invest in these areas.

Special counsel Vittorio Casamento also joins the firm’s Sydney office in banking and finance. He previously practised at Freehills and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London.

Casamento has extensive experience acting for borrowers and lenders on numerous corporate and property finance transactions. He has also acted on a range of structured finance and derivatives transactions for numerous commercial and investment banks involving equity derivatives, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, foreign currency derivatives and securities lending and repurchase arrangements.
