Trio takes up Mint positions in Aus

Minter Ellison has appointed three new partners in its Australia practice as part of its 1 July round of promotions.

Two of the new partners – Greg Carfoot and Shelley Werner – have been appointed in the firm’s insurance & corporate risk dispute resolution group in Melbourne, with Cameron Ross (pictured) also promoted in the firm’s Melbourne office in the construction, engineering & infrastructure group.

The firm also appointed a new partner, Geraldine Johns-Putra, in the corporate group in its Hong Kong office, and also appointed seven special counsel and 27 senior associates across its offices in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

The firm’s chief executive partner, John Weber, said the appointments reflect the firm's commitment to continuing to invest in the future of the business: “We are bringing great talent into the partnership and rewarding outstanding contributions of staff through promotion to special counsel and senior associate. These appointments will assist in positioning the firm for the future."

All the partner appointments were internal promotions.

Minters recently appointed its new chairman, Bruce Cowley, who took up his new role on 1 July, but the firm also just lost one if its Canberra partners to Squire Sanders’ Darwin practice.
