How did you start down this career path?
I didn't plan on becoming 'The Deals Lawyer' - I actually thought I was going to become a divorce lawyer. But in the end, I was drawn to the deals and strategy space. I loved the energy, the pace and the satisfaction of seeing all the moving parts come together for my clients - whether that's on settlement day, when they bring on a strategic partner or when two businesses merge.
Starting Vesta Law was the natural next step. I wanted to work in a way that felt clear, calm and commercial, without unnecessary layers or delays. That was when Vesta Law was born.
What inspires you in your role and industry? Why?
I love being part of the moment when a client decides to grow, exit or take a new direction. It is a real privilege to sit with them at that table.
I am also inspired by how the industry is shifting. There is a real movement towards more modern, human-centered practices. The lawyers who thrive now are those who work efficiently but still show genuine care for their clients.
What's your approach to customer service that separates you from the rest?
My clients get direct access to me. They don't wait days for answers or receive long, technical pieces of advice that no one has the time to read. I focus on clarity, quick turnaround and practical real world advice.
Most of my clients are time poor and making commercial decisions under pressure. They want to understand the risk and the path forward, not legal jargon. I also work closely with my client's other advisors - accountants, business brokers and financial planners, so my clients feel supported at every stage of their matter.
My goal is simple, I want clients to feel confident, informed and looked after.
How do you innovate and stay ahead of industry trends?
I am always looking for ways to work smarter, and with AI knocking at the legal industry's door, who isn't. I am exploring AI systems and internal tools that automate routine work so I can spend more valuable, direct time with my clients when they need me the most.
Innovation for me is about saving time, reducing the friction clients feel when they need legal advice or assistance and improving the overall client experience.
What is the toughest challenge you have faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge so far has been backing myself to start Vesta Law. Leaving the safety of a traditional role and salary to build something from scratch is confronting. You have to trust your judgement and learn fast.
I overcame that fear by building strong relationships around me - referral partners, colleagues building their own practices, and other business owners in different industries. That network has given me the support (and sometimes push) to keep going and also the confidence to know that I can run a successful practice.
Referrals have grown and the firm has taken shape exactly the way I hoped it would, if not better.
What are your goals for the next five years?
One key focus is to keep growing Vesta Law as a trusted firm for M&A, business & rent roll sales, and strategic corporate governance. I want to keep building the firm's reputation for clarity, speed and genuine care while expanding the depth of support we offer.
My second focus is building a strong team around me. I want to attract lawyers and paralegals who want to create their own career path but may not have the confidence to do it all on their own. My goal is to build a workplace where talented people feel supported with solid systems, smart tools and a culture built on trust.
We will continue investing in technology and AI to make our work faster and more efficient, but the vision stays the same - to build a modern practice that delivers excellent commercial work without losing the human element that clients have come to love and expect from The Deals Lawyer
