Ashurst promotes four to Australian partnership

Four out of 15 global partner promotions at Ashurst were in Australia.

Sydney lawyer Nicole Gardner (pictured) has been made partner in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. She will be joined in the Sydney partnership by securities and derivatives lawyer Corey McHattan.

Ashurst has also promoted employment lawyer Jon Lovell in Canberra and Melbourne-based banking lawyer Ken Nguyen.

The appointments will take effect on 1 May.

Of the remaining global appointments, five were in London, two in Madrid and one each in Paris, Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi and New York.

The promotions take the total number of partners at the global firm to 433.

The boost in partner numbers in Australia follows the defection of the firm’s former head of infrastructure, Chris Mitchell, who joined King & Wood Mallesons in February.

The firm also announced this month (7 April) that banking & finance partner Bruce Whittaker had been appointed by the federal Attorney-General to review the Personal Property Securities Act 2009.
