Publicly listed firm Shine Lawyers has appointed a new general counsel and company secretary.

Vicki Clarkson, who previously held legal and executive roles at freight company Aurizon, has taken on both roles as of yesterday, according to an ASX announcement.

Previous company secretary John George, who joined Shine in 2011, has resigned from the firm.

The firm has not previously had an in-house legal consultant, according to a spokesperson for the firm.

Ms Clarkson “has extensive experience as a corporate lawyer” and earlier in her career worked with Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) and Clatyon Utz.

She has also acted as in-house counsel for travel corporate Flight Centre Limited.

At her most recent role at Aurizon, she held a number of senior roles including managing counsel (projects), assistant company secretary, executive committee secretary and reporting manager.

She is also the company secretary for the Australian Association of Graduate Employers and Queensland state councillor of the Governance Institute of Australia.
