Anthony Lo Surdo SC, CAS

Anthony Lo Surdo SC has been appointed as an arbitrator and mediator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) appointed Mr Lo Surdo SC (pictured) to the CAS in both the general and football lists. He has also been appointed as a CAS mediator.

The CAS provides services to facilitate the settlement of sports-related disputes through arbitration or mediation by means of procedural rules adapted to the specific needs of the sports world. The CAS head office is in Lausanne, Switzerland with regional offices in Sydney and New York.

Mr Lo Surdo SC practices in banking, finance and securities law, consumer protection, corporations, equity, contract, general commercial, insolvency, insurance, international commercial arbitration, mediation, partnership law, professional indemnity, property and sports law.

He qualified as a mediator in 1993 and is a nationally accredited mediator under the National Mediation Accreditation Standards.

He is a long-standing member of the Supreme Court and District Court lists of mediators, and is also an arbitrator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).

Mr Lo Surdo SC has experience acting in a range of sports related issues including Football Federation Australia grievances, Olympic team inclusion appeals, alleged world anti-doping regulation breaches, Australian Rugby Union Code of Conduct Tribunal hearings and AFL disciplinary issues both on and off the field.
