A former senior associate in the Herbert Smith Freehills intellectual property team has joined a Perth-based firm.

Madeleen Rousseau left HSF after more than six years to join Williams + Hughes as a special counsel.

Prior to that, she was an intellectual property practitioner at Wrays and also spent 10 years at South African firm Adams & Adams.

She joins the intellectual property team of fellow Wrays alumnus David Stewart, who joined William + Hughes in August last year.

Ms Rosseau said the firm’s intellectual property expertise was a major factor in her decision to join.

“My practice will remain exclusively within intellectual property law and the firm is the best place to be in Perth in that field,” she said.

William + Hughes director Digby Robinson welcomed Ms Rosseau to the team.

“Her presence within the Australian IP landscape is significant and our enhanced capability in the field of intellectual property is now second to none in Western Australia,” he said.
