Insurance lawyer joins partnership of national rival

A Brisbane-based insurance partner has left his firm after less than one year to join a leading rival.

Colin Biggers & Paisley has announced the addition of David Giacomantonio (pictured) to its leadership team. The experienced insurance lawyer takes up his new position after leaving the Brisbane office of Lander & Rogers, whose partnership he joined in October last year.

Mr Giacomantonio has worked in the insurance law practice area for over 20 years, with a specific interest in casualty, sports liability, property, professional indemnity and general liability. He was previously a partner of Moray & Agnew, where he worked on all facets of insurance law from 2000.

Speaking of his departure from Lander & Rogers, Mr Giacomantonio said it was the right time to move.

“I have observed the insurance practice of Colin Biggers & Paisley become an incredibly strong force in the market while maintaining its friendly culture.

“Fortunately for me, Colin Biggers & Paisley felt I could make a contribution toward their continued growth and positive environment,” Mr Giacomantonio said.

Patrick Monahan, insurance head at CBP, said Mr Giacomantonio’s experience would complement the firm’s insurance offering in Brisbane.

“David is one of Brisbane's leading insurance lawyers and we are delighted that he is joining our legal practice,” Mr Monahan said.

Earlier this year CPB announced the addition of Catherine Bell as a Melbourne partner in its construction and engineering group. In May chartered accountant Carlos Gouveia also joined the firm’s corporate and commercial practice as a special counsel.
