An Australian law firm has recruited a new associate director, who specialises in corporate and commercial work.

Melbourne-based firm Brian Ward & Partners (BWP) announced late last week that Eli Davis-Ross (pictured) is the firm’s newest associate director.

Mr Davis-Ross was previously a senior associate at GrilloHiggins Lawyers, another Melbourne firm. He has experience in mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, corporate structuring, compliance, corporate governance, fund raising and strategic advice to listed and large unlisted entities with a focus on upstream energy and resources, according to a statement from BWP.

Mr Davis-Ross is also the director and secretary of charity organisation, The Good Life Farm Ltd, which empowers disadvantaged children by teaching them how to work with animals.

He said he was excited to join BWP at a time when the firm is expanding its offering in equity capital markets and M&A.

“It is an exciting time to be joining BWP as they implement their strategy to transition from a first- to second-generation boutique corporate advisory law firm and as they invest in the expansion of their existing corporate service offering in equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions,” Mr Davis-Ross said.

“I am very much looking forward to the opportunities BWP presents for me and my clients. I relish the opportunity to be a strong contributor to the ongoing growth of BWP and to the development of the next generation of leaders at the firm.”

BWP appointed Ian Walker as a principal and its head of insolvency and reconstruction last month.

The firm also made two senior hires last October – Scott Stewart as a director and the head of planning and development, and Philip Duffy as an associate director and head of workplace law
