Previously of Allens Arthur Robinson, Bates is a trademark lawyer with both private practice and in-house intellectual property experience. She will work closely with Addisons’ partners Karen Hayne, Jamie Nettleton and Martin O’Connor, who head up the firm’s IP practice.
Bates’ experience also extends to commercial IP, and so she will also work with Addisons’ corporate and commercial team, providing strategic IP advice in major transactions.
“The Addisons approach is to be a compelling alternative to the large law firms,” Hayne said.
“We have been able to attract high calibre professionals and clients who are looking for a fresh approach and top-tier legal advice. [Bates] will enhance the firm’s already strong capabilities in the intellectual property area.
