Elections held on 29 November resulted in the appointment of Moshinksy, Melanie Sloss QC as senior vice chairman and the addition of six new council members to the 21 member group.

A Rhodes Scholar, Moshinsky joined the Bar in 1995 and was appointed senior counsel in 2007, following in the footsteps of his mother Ada Moshinsky QC, who was the third woman in Victoria to be appointed a Queen's counsel.

His practice includes commercial law, constitutional and administrative law, charter of human rights, taxation and superannuation.

"Important areas of focus over the coming year are likely to be maintaining the outstanding quality of our continuing professional development program for members; the introduction of exams for the Bar readers course and the implementation of a recent review of the course curriculum; and enhancing the marketing of barristers' services," Moshinsky said.

"Barristers, who practise as sole practitioners, provide exceptionally good quality and value for money. One of the tasks for the Bar is to get that message out there to colleagues in the profession and prospective clients."
