Mallesons partner John Humphrey and Corrs partner Stephanie Daveson have been appointed as new members of the Takeovers Panel.

Announced on Friday (18 March) by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, the Panel has appointed six new members and reappointed 11 members for terms of three years.

"We are grateful to have such highly distinguished professionals involved with the Panel. It is because our members make their time and expertise readily available that the Panel is able to offer prompt resolution of takeovers disputes," said Panel president, Kathleen Farrell.

"Our thanks and best wishes go to those members who are finishing their terms. It is with their contribution that the Panel recently celebrated a successful 10 years."

Humphrey, who joins Mallesons Stephen Jaques partner David Friedlander on the Panel, specialises in corporate mergers and acquisitions and general commercial work. He is an experienced company director and currently sits on the boards of Downer EDI, Horizon Oil and Wide Bay Australia.

Daveson, who is the leader of Corrs Chambers Westgarth's Brisbane corporate advisory practice, joins fellow Panel member John Story who is a former partner of Corrs having retired in 2006.

Other new additions to the Panel include global head of Macquarie Capital's industrials group Robin Bishop, Amcor's senior vice president of legal and group general counsel Julie McPherson and Citibank's Australia and New Zealand head of investment banking Tony Osmond.

The Panel now has 53 members all of whom are appointed on a part-time basis.
