A few months after the news that five Allens lawyers from its Papua New Guinea team in Port Moresby had been poached by Corrs Chambers Westgarth, the international firm revealed that local lawyer Sarah Kuman (pictured) has joined the partnership.

Ms Kuman is a graduate of the University of Papua New Guinea and was involved in the establishment of the PNG Women Lawyers Association. The commercial lawyer, who began her career with Allens in 2002, has worked across the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.

The Allens Port Moresby office has operated in the country for over two decades and services a combination of international and PNG clients.

PNG practice director David Hill commended Ms Kuman’s elevation.

“Sarah is a terrific role model and mentor to other graduates and younger lawyers and is a senior leader across the business,” he said.

Allens managing partner Richard Spurio added: “Sarah is an outstanding practitioner who combines her technical expertise with great client relationships and a passion for the progression of women in Papua New Guinea.”
