Allen & Overy (A&O) announced that David Jenaway will join its partnership from 1 May.

The Perth-based lawyer specialises in complex and high-value disputes arising in relation to the energy and resources sector.

Allen & Overy Perth managing partner Geoff Simpson said that the firm has had another strong year in Australia. There have been a number of promotions and lateral hires in Australia, including the promotion of three lawyers across the corporate, litigation and tax teams in 2017.

“David’s promotion to the partnership reflects both his strong contribution to our market-leading litigation team and the growing demand we’re seeing for litigation and international arbitration services across the Asia-Pacific region,” Mr Simpson said.

Throughout his career, Mr Jenaway has advised disputes relating to construction projects, joint ventures, business sales and resource pricing matters throughout the Asia Pacific region.

He also has a lead role in the Perth office’s pro bono and community programmes.

Mr Jenaway has been recognised on the ‘Best Lawyers List’ for Litigation in Australia, and as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ in the Legal 500. He was also named as an ‘Associate to watch’ by Chambers and Partners in the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2018 rankings.

Allen & Overy announced a total of 20 partner promotions for 2018 are across 11 offices and 5 practice groups. The firm said that this new partner cohort is one of the most “geographically widely spread” for A&O in recent years, with 80 per cent of promotions made outside of London.
